Our Beginning

APG began in the early 1970's when two employees of UMI Company Inc. (UMI) designed and developed a steel cash drawer. In 1978, APG was formed as a separate company for the assembly, marketing, and sales of the cash drawer product line.

Our Expansion

At the end of the first year, our cash drawer company had ten employees and leased a 7,000 square foot space in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. As the business grew, APG eventually expanded to 14,000 square feet at that location. In the fall of 1993, plans were made to move APG Cash Drawer and the Atlas Manufacturing painting facility, a sister company, into a 40,000 square foot building. This facility has been expanded to 60,000 feet and is now dedicated solely to APG's manufacturing. In 2008, UMI sold its shares to a group of private investors and the APG Management team, and the company became APG Cash Drawer, LLC.

During our history of more than 30 years, APG Cash Drawer has built a reputation as the supplier of the most durable and dependable cash drawers in the industry. APG's products can be found in a variety of retail environments, including fast food, hospitality, fine dining, gasoline service stations, mass merchandising, convenience stores, and general retail applications.
